Shellfish Growers of Virginia is a trade association incorporated within Virginia. Our mission is to conduct activities necessary for the advancement, expansion and well-being of the shellfish aquaculture industry of Virginia. To accomplish our mission, we have several objectives:
1. To advocate just and proper laws and regulations that impact shellfish aquaculture.
2. To promote public education of the shellfish aquaculture industry.
3. To provide a medium of exchange of experiences and discussions of industry problems.
4. To promote and develop cooperation and friendly relationships among our members.

 

Shellfish Growers of Virginia (SGV) is made up of Virginia shellfish industry farmer/growers/producers and other entities that support the shellfish aquaculture industry.  SGV is governed by a six member Board of Directors.  These six board members include three (3) Directors whose operations are headquartered on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay of Virginia (“Eastern Shore”); three (3) Directors whose operations are headquartered on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay of Virginia (“Western Shore”); and of these six Directors, three (3) Directors whose primary business shall be clam aquaculture in Virginia; and three (3) Directors whose primary business shall be oyster aquaculture in Virginia.
