Shellfish Growers of Virginia is a trade association incorporated within Virginia. Our mission is to conduct activities necessary for the advancement, expansion and well-being of the shellfish aquaculture industry of Virginia
Virginia ranks as the top producer of clams in the United States and is first on the east coast for oyster production.
About the Industry
Shellfish culture is truly a “green” industry, with our crops continually helping to clean the Chesapeake Bay by removing excess nutrients and providing habitat for other species.
Who We Are
Shellfish Growers of Virginia (SGV) is made up of Virginia shellfish industry farmer/growers/producers and other entities that support the shellfish aquaculture industry. SGV is governed by a six member Board of Directors.
Membership
If you have an oyster or clam farm, a restaurant, or are an aquaculture equipment vendor, you may want to join SGV.
